Just fired up my BrianGT mini and guess what?
No smoke. Just heat & music! Just one question, do I short something in the balanced input (- & GND?) for unbalanced input? When testing DC offset, should the input + & GND be shorted for the measurement? Thank you in advance my audio brothas. |

Short the - input to ground when using an unbalanced input for a balanced amp. Or not. It won't hurt anything. Shorting will give more gain.
When bench testing the DC at the output, short the + input to ground. That's closer to the source Z that the amp would see if it were hooked to a preamp (presumed to have a Zout of 1k or less, usually much less). Operating the input open represents an infinite impedance in parallel with the input resistor network and you'll get more noise and DC at the output. Grey |
