Hello,
Anybody here knows what the max input voltage for the Forte model 1A is? I'm trying to match it with a dac, and want to make sure I can get as much volume as possible out of the setup... The dac I'm looking at is a bel canto dac 1 (I think it is a 2 volt output) Thanks |

I seem to remember a 26 dB gain figure, so you would get
50 watts from a 20 volt output. As 26 dB is a factor of 20, the input voltage becomes 1 volts rms, 1.4 volts peak. |

I did not understand anything from the math involved ( can't make sense of it even though there are only a couple of numbers) but I got the answer
1 to 1.4 max. Thaks, Norberto. |

Double power is 3 dB more, 2 watts in your loudspeaker gives you 3 dB more sound pressure than 1 watt.
Double voltage is 6 dB more, from 1 to 2 volts is 6 dBV, from 2 to 4 is again 6 dbV. From 1 volt to 20 volt is around 26 dB. Input voltage of the Forte 1 (40 watts) was "about" the same. Good thing Mr Pass built your 1A, not you.

Hello,
I got another question regarding this amplifier, Would it be driven by a DAC that requires a minimum 10k ohms input impedance (CAL dac)? |
