Constructors try to keep DC offset as closer as possible to zero. Offset of Alephs should be less than 100mV. In many rewievs Aleph has offset ordinary about 50mV or so. Why? There is no problem to set it to some mVolts.Considering influence of current imbalance in input pair ( as reflected by the offset) on distorsion a question appeared. Did not Mr. Pass intend it to obtain specific sound (more 2nd harmonics) by this way?

No, Mr. Pass is simply uninterested in obtaining DC
output of less than 50 mV. You can tweak it to better values, but it will still wander a bit with temperature. |
