attention! noob question:
Is it possible to build an AlephX with 610-type fets? Wouldn't the performance be better at much lower mosfet capacitance and higher supply-voltage? I know that one would need many devices to get some power from it and dissipation will massively increase mojo |

Try calculating the capacitance for the number of IRFP240's you intend to replace with IRF610's, then calculate the capacitance for the IRF610's. You will find that those two results are very close.
Generally for a given number of watts you have a given capacity. Magura

The voltage isn't a problem, but I think you'll find that the current capability and heat dissipation will be a little too close to the limits for the device. You'll have relability problems, even if the amp turns on okay.

Thanks for the feedback
It was just an idea in my head... Now I see the point, I think: one would have to replace the IRFP240 with 9 pcs of IRF610 to get the transconductance, while having about the same ratio of capacitance - right? There is a lot to learn arround here (beside the english practice) - a really nice forum! Bye, mojo |
