Aleph p1.7 test run last night

Hey all,

I received the last of the parts form my Aleph p1.7 yesterday afternoon and had time to test one channel. I had an initial problem of a hiss coming from the power supply which I quickly found out was coming from the caps directly after the rectifier... they were only rated at 63V

Apart from that everything ran smoothly.

Just a few questions though, are there any points on the board I can check voltages like on the Aleph 5? And the 2k pot for the gain, is it correct that low resistance = high gain and vice versa or do I have something weird happening, I had initially thought it was the other way around

Are you sure you want need some heatsinks on those Fets?

Hey Macka, I will get some heatsinks for them this weekend on another trip to jaycar

I forgot to mention before that the pcb design I used was from Magnus with a few changes for the different components.

I have been testing without heat sinks and the Fets don't seem to get all that warm, is it really necessary to heat sink them.

And is it possible for someone to confirm what I have done with the gain pot as correct or not.

I have been running my Aleph P 1.7 for 6 months without heatsinks and they just don't get warm enough to justify heatsinks.
