During my traineeship here in the European Space Agency, I foud out that I believe the Pass community is going to like...
The LEAF, Large European Acoustic Facility, is the biggest acoustic test facility in europe. It is equipped with a massive accoustic generator capable of producing sound levels as high as 120dB. The LEAF is used to test the effects that sattellites wil see during launch. In an efford to extend the capabilities of the LEAF facility, ESA is about to feature a contract to Pass, to produce no less than 40 X1000 amplifiers. The array is to be connected to a newly installed speaker array, that will now allow the acoustic testing above 2kHz. (until now, the facility can test between 5Hz and 2kHz). ESA has selected Pass amplifiers due to their capability to drive difficult loads with little distortion, and the ease of parallelling multiple amplifiers. The amplifiers will be arranged such, that 5 parallelled X1000 amps will drive a single speaker unit of 4kW mid-range speakers. 7 of these mid-range units will be installed. the remaining 5 amps will each drive an 800W tweeter array, extending the audio range up to 40 kHz. Part of my project is now, to build a frequency generator and ultra-linear preamplifier that will drive the 40 Pass Labs Amplifiers. I am looking forward to receiving your amplifiers, Mr. Pass!! ![]() Cheers, Bakmeel

Order that many, and you'll have purchased more than Sony did.

Just exactly how many did Sony order Mr. Pass? Is it one for every Sony factory around the world to compare their products with?...or to connect their SACD players in R&D?
