That is a Pass A40, and a very well made one.
Making such a chassis is very costly, the covered 1200va toroids are pricy too. With great attention for detail: the pcb's are single-piece versions, the builder designed his own boards instead of buying the front end A40 pcb's and making a couple of output stage boards. Looks like both front and back plate are brushed aluminum alloy, heatsinks as the ones used are 40cm x 15cm and cost serious money. 400 Euro is a steal, imo.

I agree - you could'nt possible build that amp for 400 euros, unless your uncle bob gave you the parts for free, and still you should have some skill - I also agree that 400 is a steal - if you like the sound that is - I havent heard alot about the sound of the A40 - I think that most people build Aleph 3's now, when the want smaller Class A amps.
Mabye others have experience with the A40 ? Cheers ! Hans |

Even if the boards are taken out and the amplifier converted to an Aleph 5, its 400 euro well spent, imo.
