Default What model of Pass lab amp is it?

What kind of model it is? it's an interesting item for 400 Euro?

Could be an A40......
I dont think you could build such a nice looking case, and fill it with thoose components for 400 euros.......but again its used - mabye take a listen to it ??

That is a Pass A40, and a very well made one.

Making such a chassis is very costly, the covered 1200va toroids are pricy too.
With great attention for detail:
the pcb's are single-piece versions, the builder designed his own boards instead of buying the front end A40 pcb's and making a couple of output stage boards.
Looks like both front and back plate are brushed aluminum alloy, heatsinks as the ones used are 40cm x 15cm and cost serious money.
400 Euro is a steal,imo.

Default What amp?

I agree - you could'nt possible build that amp for 400 euros, unless your uncle bob gave you the parts for free, and still you should have some skill - I also agree that 400 is a steal - if you like the sound that is - I havent heard alot about the sound of the A40 - I think that most people build Aleph 3's now, when the want smaller Class A amps.

Mabye others have experience with the A40 ?

Even if the boards are taken out and the amplifier converted to an Aleph 5, its 400 euro well spent, imo.
