Default Question with X2 Block Diagram

As seen from the block diagram of X2, it has input stage and output stage. It seems works as a "Single End/Bal" In/Output conventor.
Could we just build ONE "Single Preamp" like CCS-X-BOSOZ" and use "Mechanical Device" like sector, relay to chose "Single End/Bal" In/Output instead of building two ?

Please Comments !!!
