Hi everybody,

I just the new guy here and glad to recevie and exchange the opnion to all of you. Currently, I have some trouble in choosing the Pass amp to my system. I have to select between Alep2 and X250 to mate with my Alep P. I knew that people here has many good experience in Pass amp. Can you share me your opnion on what do you think on the sonic quality on both amp?

What are your speakers, how loud do you play them, what do
you listen to, and what amp have you liked before?

I really glad to have the reply by the designer of Pass amp, Nelson Pass. Actually, I'm is Pass fan which currently own Pass alep 3,5 L and P. My like amp will be Pass Alep3 compare to the 5. However, the speaker that I use is Dunlavy IV and I ususally play the classical music. So it will be a little lound but not much since my room only 20 * 13 fts. My concern is also the age of the amp. The alep2 that I'm looking for quite old around year 1996.

Thank for your informaion and recommendation. Do you know how much popular your amp here (Thailnad)?

I have very similiar combo ! Aleph-P, first Alpeh-5 then Aleph-2 and Dunlavy SC-4. SC-4 is efficient, you might not need X-250 in terms of power, Alpeh-2s are simply better than X-250 and Aleph-5.

Depends on your taste, of course, but the Aleph 2 has
always been a favorite. The X250 has more power and
dynamics, and tends to do a little better on your louder
and more complex orchestral passages, but when the
material is not as loud and is simpler (a vocal and/or only
a couple of instruments), I tend to like the 2.

The above statements are generally true. But for Dunalvy sc-4, Aleph-2 is an evident winner ! For complex orchestral, accurate freq response becomes even more important so that the image is clear not blurred ! My 2 cents !

I am doing a degree in mechanical and electronic engineering and have only recently discovered pass labs and diyaudio.com and I was wondering what is the best design for my taste in music.

I have B&W DM603 speakers currently powered by an ONKYO TX-8511 100x2 amp. I listen to a large range of music from green day to ub40, phill collins, clapton, Incubus, Snow patrol etc etc. I tend to play music reasonably loud. Would a diy built pass design be a large step in sound quality from my current amp?

any help in picking the right design for me what be much appreciated.

Absolutely! Your world will be rocked!

I suggest you give the Aleph2 strong consideration.
