Hi folks,
i´m pretty new in this community and i´ve been very astonished to find such a "unusual" man like Nelson Pass on my travel trough the wide wide audio web. He seems to be a bit like the pope (his word is fact) and Robin Hood (take it from the rich and give it to the poor) in one person Lets be thankful that he spend his "centuries" of experience to the people.... OK enough of hymn. For me as a greenhorn in so much ZENs and ALEPHs it is difficult to get on "the right way". That means for me to build step by step (from Phono via head- and preamp to amp) a very fine playing chain of amps. The focus should be not too much power (speakers 90dB/1W/1m), simple to build and a battery power supply for the "low power" devices. Is there anybody out there who can give me essential hints, especially were getting schematics, PCBs? In deep gratitude Bernd |

Schematics can be found at Passdiy.com and Passlabs.com. From Zen to Pearl Phono to Aleph. For the AlephX look for 'The Alephx' by Mr. Grollins at this forum. Grey for the friends. Are your speakers difficult to drive? This could be rather important in the search for the correct amplifier. /Hugo |

BosoZ preamp, that one sounds just great As for the poweramp you ought to start out with a ZenV4, boards here:http://www.passdiy.com/order.htm . These projects come with the 'Popes' own construction guides, wich in themself is magnificent reading. Unfortunately, the Pearl phono boards aren't available anymore, but that would have been my third suggestion. I was lucky enough to build the Pearl, and it sounds magnificentSteen. Ps. Picasso is the proper term for this particular artist |

Thanks for all replies!
jacco: "The Pope doesnt know what he is talking about, NP does." Yes indeed, but a lot of catholics believe him... I´ve checked the links and found a lot of information. But what´s the main difference between Zen and Aleph. (I haven´t spent my last 15. here...) NP, Nobin Picasso Steen: Great hints! Are there any second or third sources for the pearl boards? I want to start at the beginning of the signal... Hugo: AlephX seems a bit "oversized" for the beginning. My speakers (Nubert NuWave125, german product) are nearly constant in impedance (4Ohm) PS: I´m out for skiing this we (another way to spend leisure time |
