Hello!!!
Well, this is my version of the aleph 5. The case is a standard aluminium 19" rack, and the mosfets are cooled by 4 cpu heatsinks. The result is a very compact aleph 5, light, and cheap to build (this is the most important point for me . The sound is very good!! Big thanks to Mr Nelson Pass and diyaudio! No exotic parts. 600 Va trafo 80000uf mkt mundorf caps Kristijan pcb's (thanks!) next step: upgrade the psu with more uf and a LcLc filter ![]() ![]() ![]()

Very clean implementation. What is your cover going to look like to provide for the air flow?

That's one way to get around huge heatsinks!
What are you using to power the fans? Can you keep reducing fan speed until you get it as quiet as you can with enough cooling? thaks for sharing. |

hi again
Thanks Azira, I am planing to use a drilled aluminium cover (maybe the fans won't be covered..) . Something like this Moe29, I use a small transformer to power the fans ( around 9 volts) and resistors to adjust the fan speed. I've reduce the fan speed until I'm not able to hear any air flow noise from my listening position. At this point you can touch the heatsinks during 6 or 7 seconds ... you can keep reducing the fan speed ( specially if you listen music at night at low volume ), but i don't recomend it... the mosfets will die too young . .

Well, isn't that amazing and how do you explain it? I tried 4 different browsers and clicked on the small pictures. NADA.

Just out of curiosity, is there any reason why you didn't have the heatsinks rotated 90 degrees from the way they are now? It really looks like the hot air has nowhere to go. If they were rotated, the air blown onto the sinks could exhaust into the case and out perforations in the back of the case.
