Hi There

Ive been trying to make pcbs for a while anow and I'm not having too much luck. I'm doing it on the cheap with photo resist boards and a cheap uv bulb. I get some results but not good enough to use! I am getting annoyed now after a good few tries and Ive spent about £25 doing so.

I would be interested in buying some pcbs to make my aleph 4 . I was using Mark Finnis's pdfs and Im gonna do p2p on the output mosfets so I need 2 main boards.
regards
dave

Aleph 4 boards

I've made these boards using Press 'n Peel transfer sheets. They're more affordable than the photoresist boards. It has taken a little trial and error to get it to work... but it works.

I have also made boards using a toner transfer from glossy print paper. You can use the same transparencies (double up to avoid pinholes) and copy to the paper (laser printer only, I believe). This image can be transferred with household iron (do a google on this to find more detailed info). After soaking in water for an appropriate period (~30 min) the paper can be teased off the copper surface. It may take a couple of soakings to get it done but it does work.

Aleph 4 boards

Dave-
I have a couple of "empty" boards I could send you. I have 4 Finnis boards populated for an Aleph 2 which test out fine, so you should be able to make them work.

If you're interested send me an e-mail with your mailing address.

Regarding "printed" layouts, I get better results with Inkjet printing, but this must be done onto dedicated Injet transparency film.

Standard OHTs are polyethylene (I think) and due to polarity of surface you get crappy results. Inkjet OHTs are polypropylene & effectively non-polar, thus you get a much more even spread of ink. Much more even spread than a laser.

I also subscribe to the 2 is better than 1 philosophy (no I'm not referring to one of Nelson's porno flicks) and print 2 copies then layer them for exposure.

FWIW ....
