Hello,
I use now for many years two Zen's for my Stacked Quads. Now I plan to build an Aleph X with around 100W (+/-22V, 6A) and an Aleph P. Is the Aleph X the right partner for 2 Quads per channel (parallel or seriell) and is the power I plan to build enough (or to much) ? Thanks Ralph |

I suppose your Quads are the 55's ?
In my view the bare minimum solid state for an ESL63 is 50 watts. With a single ended output i think you should be aiming for 100. The ESL63 has the highest phase shift and lowest impedance at frequencies where it needs lots of current. I would aim for very high bias. After the Aleph series i am building have completed i am planning to employ a second set of ESL63, as active subwoofers for an extra 3 dB in the low region.

Hello,
you are right, I have 4 of the 57's Quad in a stacked configuration - 2 per channel. At this moment I have a "Son of Zen" Amp an both speakers at one channel in a serial connection. Now I plan to build an Aleph X with around 100W - 12 MOSFET's, +/-22V, 6A. I this this should be enough. Also I want to try to change the stacked configuration to parallel. Regards Ralph |

Here are my thoughts on what it takes to drive a pair of ESL 57's - basically 30Vpeak and 6Apeak should be as much as you'll ever need.

In parallel the stacked 57's are supposed to go below 1 ohm impedance.
Did you take a look what the Aleph X will deliver at 1 Ohm or less ?

Hallo,
due to the nice results with my Son of Zen (arround 12W / 4A) I will give the Aleph X a chance. Even if the parallel operation mode of the stacked Quad's is not working well I expect that I get better results with the serial mode. Regards Ralph |

The one and only

The SOZ has such a high output impedance, that it must
attenuate the top end significantly. The X / XA / Aleph X will all bring significantly more brightness to the sound.
