What would be the best (more audiophile) way to equalize a bi-amplification system made with:
- Aleph P preamplifier - Aleph 3 on tweeter (unbalanced connection) - Aleph 0s on woofer (balanced connection) "Problem" is that Aleph P balanced/XLR output has a 15dB gain while unbalanced/RCA output has only 9dB gain. Can I make a cable that takes the balanced output of the Aleph P and then splits in two ways - one balanced and one unbalanced? (one of the amps, Aleph 3, has no balanced inputs) Or it will be better to introduce one attenuator for low frequencies? (loudspeakers passive crossover is at 2.5KHz.) Thanks and regards! |

Turn up the gain on one, or make a black box to connect between them with a modest gain?

The Aleph 3 has less gain than the 0s. I would consider
driving the 0s with pin 3 into a 10K pot (wiper to RCA input) and inverting its phase at the speaker output, and driving the Aleph 3 with pin 2. They would both share pin 1 ground. |

Nelson, thanks for the excellent tip!
I find the solution brilliant and simple, plus, it's an easy cable to build. I just have one question concerning the pot: Is the difference of gain between the Aleph 0s and the Aleph 3 relevant when using the unbalanced inputs on both amplifiers? |
