Enough X material has been published that you ought to be able to throw together an X preamp circuit with your eyes closed by now.
I'll make a prediction--with the arguable exception of Wayne's volume control, the circuit will be pretty much what you would come up with if you put your mind to it. That's not to say that the circuit doesn't sound good...it's that by the time the dancer removes her seven veils, you'll take one look and say,"Hey, I know her!" It's the veils that add the element of mystery.
I've already tried several different X preamp topologies. Others have done it, too. Conceptually, it's not difficult. Just start with a BOSOZ and X it. I'm sure there'll be a few details that differ, but not enough to make you tear your hair out when you see the "real" schematic.
Nelson,
If the volume control is the holdup, just blank that part of the schematic. That way the dancer retains at least one veil, and you folks retain your intellectual property. The circuit itself will keep a lot of people busy just by itself.

I believe Aleph P1.7 is "X."
We could mod it with +/- rails.
I don't know what is "2" of "X2".
I don't think that 2 means 2 stages because Nelson loves simplisity and, according to him, X works best when the circuit is getting simpler. I guess that P1.7 and X2 have the same heart and the same musical sense.

I too am very curious!

Does anybody know whether the X-2 sounds different or better than the Aleph P 1.7?

Lucas

P.S.: How about posting the X-2 on New Years Eve?

Hello,

The 2 versions of the service manuals of the PASS X2 preamplifier are available.
http://www.passlabs.com/downloads.htm

The version 1 is complete.

For the version 2, there are no schematic of UGS3 and UGS4 circuits. The UGS circuits are the subject of a different service manual. It is not available.

Maybe that Nelson !!!

Regards

Darry
