Dear All,

this is my first post on the forum.
I have currently at home a Pass Aleph 0s, which I'm auditioning with promising results.

I am trying to find a simple (and not expensive) solution for the preamp. A firend suggested me that I could try either a solution based around the NE5532 and fed by a small battery or a solution based on the tube 6H30Pi.

Any opinions are welcome. Regarding the solution with the 6H30Pi, tubes usually introduce a small DC component ... may this be an issue with the Pass Aleph 0s?

Thanks in advance,
Vermeer

Hi Vermeer and a warm welcome.
Don't know what you call cheap but did you have a look at Passdiy.com?
You'll find some very nice projects over there for your preamp.
Maybe not utterly cheap but who wants to spoil the sound of an Aleph?

About the DC components: Never mind as long as it's below something like 100mV.

A healthy tube preamp circuit will not put DC into your amp. If you have a DC problem, you probably have a defective DC blocking cap. Easily replaced.
I use a tube preamp with my various Alephs, Thresholds, etc. No problem.
On the other hand, there are some excellent preamp designs at passdiy and passlabs.
The choice is yours...just don't count tubes out prematurely.
