Gents,
I did a search and didn't see anything so forgive me if I missed something. I am looking to purchase two toroidal transformers for a 100 Watt Aleph X. The transformer should be 1KVA with two 16 vac secondaries. Does anyone know a domestic manufacturer that makes such a beast that won't break the bank?

16V secondaries won't give you 100 watts...

You are right! 17 v secondaries will. I am using a simple capacitor filter

Plitron will do a custom job I think, assuming that they don't have one in their regular lineup that will do what you want.
Avel Lindberg might be worth contacting. Toroid Corp. also. Just out of curiosity, why are you going for 1000VA for a 100W amp? 600-750VA would do quite well and cost less. Not to mention being easier to find. Note that I've got 1000VA transformers on my Aleph 2s, so it's not as though I'm trying to talk you out of overkill, assuming that's your goal. Grey |

Grey,
It seems as if everyone who has made an Aleph 2 or AX 100 has used 1 KVA so I being very lazy didn't go through the calculations and assumed 1 KVA was the one to go for. If 750VA is ok I am not against saving a little money.

Great source is Partsexpress. They sell Avel-Lindberg transformers at very good prices.

Saving money is near and dear to my heart. Unfortunately, that conflicts with my impulse to "supersize" everything. I'm a firm believer in the principle that if some is good, then more is better, and too much is just enough. However, that route costs money. Whether it's worth it to you is your decision.
