found something on the scrapyard: footsteps of a rollstair or how do you call them:
large chunks of ribbed aluminium with a flat back.... exactly what a pass-diy needs.

Escalator?

That would make some seriously big heatsinks...

They may not be an ideal solution, but should be quite good for some uses.

You have to consider that the tread on an escalator is not very deep. That's a big, probably thick-backed heatsink with a lot of shallow fins. What does the thermal rating work out to be?

Neat! What is the height of the fin and the spacing?

not very thick, 15mm only, but big radiating surface, 9mm spacing.
dimensions 200x360mm
There are maybe 50 or more of them, many of them bent or seriously scratchted. They removed them the hard way. Also grease all over them. But what the heck, they'll do the job fine after a good sandblast.

For people near Brussels: it's next to First Kart- Inn in Machelen.
Some nice aluminium sheet metal is also available in various thickness, scrap for them, but big enough and nice for a diy-er.

Those heatsinks cost me less than 2 euro's a piece.

So no reason to

4 or 6 of them for an AX monoblock with 2x22VAC 1kVA pro channel?
