I can't read GErman and am building an Aleph 1.2 which I want to put meters onto. Which of those boards do I want?

Thanks

The THEL analog meters VU80, VU98, VU128 together with a VU-70 display board (I think there is an error in the description and it it should read VU-70a as this is the version without LED`s but with resisors for driving a meter) are intended to display power output of amplifiers.

Please note that this are not TRUE WATT meters. They measure only output voltage and display power dependent on a assumed 4 or 8 Ohm speaker load (there is a jumper on the display board to select the 4 or 8 Ohm load impedance).

A TRUE WATT meter design would require to measure the actual current flowing into the speaker as well (not only the actual voltage at the speaker terminals) and an electronic circuit that calculates true power by multiplication of voltage and current (P= U x I).

So, can this be made on a simple PCB? I'm sure it has been done before correct?

Also, Nelson Pass had a meter on his Stasis amps that sent to 12 o'clock when the power was on, then moved ever so slightly to the right I believe as it's class A gain devices increased the flow of current to the speakers. In other words as the volume was turned up. Is this simply a watt meter that reads a steady milli-amp at power on, then a slight increase as it's max wattage of output is realized?

Thanks. I will check the link you mentioned now.
