C1 - R - C2
or C1 - Thermistors - C2 C1, C2: 68mf, 9.4 mohm ESR R: 2 0.47/5W in parallel Thermistor: 2 CL-60 in parallel, 10ohm/18mohm Can thermistors in CTC still provide inrush current protection ? Thanks! |

I think Peter Daniel used them in his Aleph-X. Shouldn't be a problem.
I'm not sure about inrush current... On my Aleph 2's I used the CL-60 part on the AC line - before the transformer. (I think there's a schematic on Digikey in the product info of the CL-60 that shows common useage) m. |

Only one set of T's between the Caps (CTC): Since C1 is still connected directly to the rectifier, it's still going to cause a huge inrush. Since C1 is usually larger than C2 (higher ripple current, so put more in parallel), the majority of inrush current remains.
I think I remember someone saying that the XA200 that Nelson showed in pics had three sets of thermistors. Here's how I'd guess they're arranged: One set of four in parallel on the primary side of the transformer, and one set of four on each of the rails (+/-) between C1 and C2. Got some stuff on order and plan to build this ckt unless someone comes up with a better idea. Bryan |

I remember passlabs stopt using them, because of the thermal runaway when using thermistors in parallel.

Thanks for the responses !
Looks like CRC plus CL-60s at the primary ends is the way to go ! |
