Default J-Low as a Studio Monitor?

I was wondering if anyne had any thoughts on using the Pass DIY J-Low as a monitor for mixing music on? I understand that it is quite a large speaker but since I'm starting from scratch with the control room we could certainly design it into the layout with no problem. Thanks.

The J-low would probably make a terrific studio monitor if you scale it appropriately and load it with a 15" Altec 604 coaxial driver. Putting a teensy weensy driver in it like in the original design will not give you high SPL capability and that is where you get dynamic range needed IMO for mixing music properly.

The J-low for a studio monitor you ask? Probably terrific....for an art studio.

Keep in mind that you have to sit at least 1/4 wavelength
away from the lowest frequency you want to hear. You need
a big room for big horns.
