Anyone tried a JFET source follower at the input of a BOZ?

I was thinking of trying it. It would eliminate the input capacitance problem and allow a pot to be used at the input. This would also lower the output impedance of the BOZ. Anyone ever tried it? I would have to lay out a small board for the input buffer stage but it would be very small and not take up much room in a chassis.
