Are there boards available? What is the parts list? Have there been any mods to the original circuit/component list?
Is the Aleph 2 a better alternative to driving a difficult load like a large electrostatic panel? Thanks for your help. I'm a feeble novice, but learning more all the time, love music and big sound. C |

I get the impression from your later posting that you have
decided on an AB type X amp. In any case, the schematics are on the passlabs site, and a number of people are offering Aleph boards. All the front ends are pretty much the same, and they mostly varied by size of output stage and power supply. |

No, I'm still on the fence. I might chicken out and go with an Aleph 1.2.
Actually, I'll only be driving the panels of the Monoliths with these monoblocks. The bottom 12" drivers I'll drive with an Aleph 5 I read all the Stereophile reviews and literature from Pass Labs last night and was being told that the 1.2's would drive anything I threw at it, including a dead short. I guess all amps must claim this, or they wouldn't sell. However, what sent shivers up my spine was the description of X1000 going from silence to crescendo to silence in an eerie quickness....something like that. That's what I want to experience. That's what I'm after. I don't want to spend 3 years back engineering something just to say I did it. Tell me oh wise one, all I want to do is listen to great music on a better than great hifi. If ignorance is bliss, than is the 1.2 peanut butter? Sincerely, Chris |
