I am building my first Pass project which consists of an XBOSOZ and an SOX. I do not have a power transformer for the SOX, but I do have a 20 amp variac. I searched the archives for info on this subject and I did find some info, but I would like to show my proposed schematic and ask for comments. I lashed this circuit up without the inductors just to test my idea, and it seemed to work. Please check out my schematic and let me know if I am on track, and if this could be considered permanent, as I would like to build the PSU in an offboard case. I am basically looking at a dial-a-watt power supply, and this really appeals to me. If I go this route, I will fab in a fixed stop on the variac to establish a max voltage within the rateing of my caps.
