PatPet,

I have loaded your file on the PSU designer

The values are too high for me...
500 milli Farad = 0.5 Farad at 50 volts it will cost arm and legs
100 milli Farad = 0.1 Farad

To be more acurate go for 60 000 micro F and lower the resistors CRC
with 2 * 60 000micro and 0.25 Ohms youll have 6 milli volts ripple...
will be easy and good cost..
the CRCRC with the same values, and one more stage, excellent...

I send back the 2 prototypes one CRC and the other CRCRC

Regards.

Alain.

Thank you Alain Dupont

But how much space does a 22000uF capacitor occupy?

Also, what is the difference between

(-27)--------
C1
(g)-----------
C2
(+27)--------

and

(27)---------
C3
(g)-----------

if they are the same, what are the relationships among C1, C2 and C3?

C1 + C2 = C3?

PatPet,

>> But how much space does a 22000uF capacitor occupy?
Panasonic TS serie 22 000 micro f 35 Volts Dia=35mm Lg=50 mm
Digikey: P6921-ND at 9.6cad$ idem for 50 Volts Digikey: P6946-ND at 11.4 cad $

You can parallel 3 of these to make 66 000 micro Farad.
This will be better because you parallel the internal resistor of the caps
so you have lower global resistance.

>> if they are the same, what are the relationships among C1, C2 and C3?

No relation between the C1, C2, C3 idealy should be similar values...
C1 = C2 = C3

Take care to use a bridge rectifier for > 250 amperes peek
because there is a huge current at power up...

If the voltage obtained at C3 is too much, better use a transfo with a lower
secondary voltage.

The best thing is to use only little resistors to avoid too much losses
and big capacitors, to get solid bass.

Regards.

Alain.

PatPet,

Its the same with a positive and negative supply.

I return your schematic with 2 CRCRC for positive and negative supply's

Regards.

Alain.
