JEKYLL,

I have to agree with rtirion about the 1nF cap between Base and Collector of Q105 MPSA18, try it for sure.

Its the best proposal on your thread.

Alain.

Me yesterday::crying: :sad:
Me today::happy1: :cheerful: :happy2:

"THE" noise is dead!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, and more particulary rtirion:hug:

I have added this two caps this morning like rtirion said, it works!
It's a wonderful day. I thought it will never plays MUSIC.

But now, two questions:
-In the Service Manual there is no capacitor, however the amp works and not mine. And I think that most of DIY Aleph 3 amps work without this small capacitor. Why?
-In the Aleph30 Service Manual I don't see the capacitor named C104 in the Aleph3 Service Manual, do I have to keep it in my amp or to remove it?

Another happy ending ! :drink:

Very very glad you've fixed it ! And thanx rtirion !

Well, don't wanna be a "rabat-joie", but I think your PCB is kind of suboptimal, with too long tracks between components, and not an optimal component placement...

but BTW, let's forget about it, and enjoy the music and the heat ;)

Happy listening.

The noise is dead, ... let the music start!

I am glad the problem is fixed.

The Aleph has been called a simple circuit. I never thought it was.
Looks are deceiving. Their are a lot of small and clever details.

Next thing will be to set the AC current gain properly. I have
found this setting to be critical if you want optimum performance.

To answer your questions:

In the Service Manual there is no capacitor, however the amp
works and not mine. And I think that most of DIY Aleph 3 amps
work without this small capacitor. Why?
Your amp was working from the start. Maybe not in the way
you would expect, but it did work.
Stability issues are always something to investigate when building
an amp. Don't take anything for granted. Many builders simply
skip this fase. Why? Lack of equipment, can not hear oscillation,
etc, etc.

-In the Aleph30 Service Manual I don't see the capacitor named
C104 in the Aleph3 Service Manual, do I have to keep it in my
amp or to remove it?
You should keep C104. This cap is there for stabilty reasons as
well.

Regards
