Hi!
I have a lot of questions about the Aleph-amplifiers...and hope you can help me get some understanding...: If you raise the rail-voltage, (and keep bias the same), do you get more potential power-output? And if you lower the bias only, what do you loose (exept heat and sound-quality) ? Arne K

Hi Arne,
for a Aleph the same rules apply as for most other amps. If you raise the rail voltage and leave the bias max. power will be somewhat higher at a higher load impedance. If you lower the bias power will go down below a certain load impedance. Max. Power is always reached when voltage or current are at there maximum. If you want to have the maximum at 8 ohms youŽll have to make shure bias and voltage are right. If you want to lower the power into 8 ohm (but keep the maximum there) youŽll have to lower the bias and the voltage. William P.S. upping the voltage will (just as upping the bias) also up the dissipated power!

So it will follow the same rules as the Aleph - X, regarding power vs output-load...right?

right,
but not the same power for the same voltage / bias combination as the X cause it is not a bridged amp. William

Is there a spread-sheet or formula to calculate the power, bias and impedance relationship?

Arne,
I think I've ot on around somewhere. I'll have a look and otherwise will change the AXE-1 to suit the Aleph. Will post it here in the next few days. William

Did you find / make that spread-sheet? Arne K

Hi Arne,
i have already modified William's AXE-1. But i recommend to do it yourself, so you can learn more then just using it Peter |
