I like it. I just happen to have a pair of 3.5K ohm OPT's. Close enough with a slight amount of power loss?
yup , lesser power , but also lesser THD
> I'll try your suggestion next weekend, junk box permitting
You already have Tx, D & C.
No reason why you cannot use the same MOSFET.
Else the old IRFP240 will also do.
CRD can be just a LND150, plus a 2W resistor to suit Idss and desired voltage.
And then use your other remaining C to parallel the R above.
I am sure you have them all lying around.

i like it , even a french guy can build it
i already have 1,5W E55L tube Spud amp , with nearly the same config 140V 55ma 3,5K transformer. it will be fun to make a direct contest Tube Vs Sand

Just as in a tube amplifier. You and I have horns so the slight loss of power will probably not be noticed. So simple I may have to give it a go.

My experience is all things equal with class A there is not a appreciable difference. It comes down to your preference for SS vs tubes.

also difference between triode ( I suppose you have) and pentode

power is overrated
Irresistible.
Just for fun.
And no, I am not joining with the build.
Not transformers.
Patrick
.
McIntosh is a firm believer in OPT for SS. Unless things have changed.
Just for fun.
Very nice. Thank you, Patrick.

you mean - autoformers ?
you mean - autoformers ?
Don't believe so. My understanding is they use output transformers just as they do with their tube amplifiers.
nope , autoformers
I knew if I was wrong someone would correct me. Always thought they used output transformers. Zen Mod is the man.
Red LED?
Do you mean for the bias?
In this case, you want the degeneration and adjust-ability.

if that's for believing , all you need is to take a look at their xformers , top.
power xformer having proper schematic sticker , autoformer also ..... even wearing a title Audio Autoformer
example attached (clogging da thread ...... but this is Papafun one , so who cares) .... and yes , overcomplicated drek .
just rename xtension from .asc to .pdf ..... I cheated , to upload it here
