I had a crazy thought.
Are there any SOT complementary jfet's in current production?
By my paper napkin calculations, you only need .35 Amps.
That would bring down the required number for a follower to ~ 144 per channel, assuming 10 mA Idss.

It might have a higher output Z on the order of 2 Ohms.
But it should have less capacitance to drive.

Might take it from unobtanium to doable.

These are mostly just meditative exercises, like zen gardening. :)

Hi Mr Michael,
I'm must admit that i'm one of those greedy boys out there who just cant keep their mind off the 120v one in the long nights...

I have just one, i mean just one thing to ask please, as a meditative exercise or pure favour, as my sistem is only 95dB/channel (so not that much to get away with only 1 w), could you please modify the 120vcc version (keep the 120vcc psu) from 1w to somewhere near 5-6w (i wouldnt mind a bit of complexity if it is the case and keep that pure second harmonic signature)?
I would be very gratefull for that, and i think that all of us would be.

Thanks in advance
Sergiu

Ps: can you suggest a more obtainable output part in the same configuration from mouser would be best for everyone i think.

You can always use the triode cell (100~200mA) in the DAO headphone amp to replace the MOSFET and source resistor in the 120V version with transformer.
Bias will increase, so will the heat.

But best is still to add a pair of 2SK170BL as follower at the input.
Just adds complication.

And still needs matching.
