What I have in mind encompasses several possible front ends for an
output stage that incorporates a single VFET, all plug compatible.

At this point the design is not frozen but has four TO-3 transistors and
likely a different design for the P vs N channel VFETs.

The brackets have arrived which are fitted to the diyAudio Universal
Mounting Spec (UMS), and I will finalize this as soon as some other
projects are wrapped up.

Thank You Mr.Nelson.
Humble request.
1. No feed back
2. No capacitors in signal path
3. No transformers in signal path.

What is your reasoning?

Dear Nelson,

Some High School knowledge (May Be Myth) on transformer and capacitors and feed back.

For example I played one note on piano. Now It is converted to electrical signal with microphone. This electrical signal has some characteristic
1. Time width ( How much Time signal raise a peak, stay and diminish )
2. Curve has some steepness and fall.

Now
1. Feed back: If we apply negative feed back, the amplified signal will come back and reduces the original signal (i.e altering original note characteristics)

2. Capacitors: When the current raises it opposes the accumulation of more electrons in theory. So it will alter steepness . The discharge curve of capacitor is parabolic (fall is slow) different than my original piano note and it also increase time window (capacitors discharge slowly) of my original signal characteristic.

3. Transformer: The primary coil has some inductance, When sudden raise in current, it (inductor) opposes it and when suddenly current decrease it opposes so my piano note looses curve steepness(raise current) and fall(decreases).
Thanks,
Nag.

As always, the faults of various approaches and parts are weighed
against their benefits. I prefer to take it on a case by case basis.

We can build pretty good amplifiers without the items on the list, but
there is no assurance it will necessarily sound better than one which
has one or more of those "features".

People do like to discuss these issues though, and it provides lively
entertainment....

Is there a pre-order list for this?

This project is moving forward slowly - I have adopted a "one kit at
at time" policy.

The last Sony VFET offering will be in two stages - the N's and the P's

They will be different circuits, but both are followers.

There will be approximately 200 channels of each.

There will be plenty of notice before they are released.

I dropped Jason a message...he said subscribe to the VFET thread and that is where info will most likely be shared first.

Thing is, there seems to be several threads where these VFET projects have been mentioned. I’m wondering which thread is the correct one to watch.

I missed out on the other VFET offerings like some others and sure would like avoid a repeat on that.

next (popular one) is going to be : "Hi Pa , how I can put XXXX SIT in my ACA ? "

That’s even sillier than using Semisouth in the ACA
