ZEN xa - Aleph X

Hello,

After my Aleph 4, now I have decided to built amplifier with super symmetry stage but I need some clarifications, about differents thread I have got more querry.

I've got interesting in the ZEN XA and ALEPH X amplifier, but the first point is if I use the IRFP044 instead of 244, I will get the same performance?

I know that IRFP044 will mantein their linearity better at lower rail voltage, it is recomended less than 20Vcc even if the maximum voltage for them is 60Vcc 57Amper.

Now I see schematics about the Amp in object, and I would know if the IRFP044's works fine also if is posssible for both amp is possible to use 20 or 25 rail voltage without to change their performance, more or less.

20 V seems a bit low for a "listening"amp , you are not going to build a prototype won't you . Or if so you design it for a very low speaker impedance and in that case low rails but huge bias .

At about 25V you can buid a quite reasonable amp , and in that case the IRFP 240 seems a good choice , or 244 either .

Think about the wonderful Aleph3 which uses P240 and a 25V supply

Start by deciding how much wattage you want. That will tell you what rail voltage to use, which in turn will indicate which device you might want to use...and how much heatsinking and power supply to budget for.
The Aleph 3 is a very nice amplifier, but it's not an "X" amplifier.
