If you shop carefully on Ebay you can get a 10lb spool of 16 gage magnet wire for about $100 including shipping. The spools these are sold on will work ok! as an inductor having a dcr of ~ 4.5 ohms and ~ 100mh. But if you rewound that wire on a shorter coil form you could get a higher inductance -- just a quick look and it looks like that 10lbs of wire on a 2" core and 2" long will give you just a little over 150mh . But it will have less radiating area so may run a little hotter. So all in all just leaving it on the spool might not be such a bad idea afer all.
Ok, so I went for the Lundahl LL2733!
So I listened after all eduard
Also guy in Norway recommended the Lundahls!
Specially ordered them so they are rated for 1,5A / 3A (series/parallell)
I use them i parallel so they are 3A and about 110mH.
Sound is more fresh after installing the Lundahls!
Schematic is the same as in post #19, except the Lundahls and the 50kohm resistor change to 70kohm to increase bias.
Bias is now about 1,85A.
Tested on small bookshelf speakers hum is not bad.
Thinking 110mH work nice!
