Default The (X)SOZ that retired but came back as an Aleph-Zen...

Referring to this thread where my SOZ got a little too hot to be comfortable with: http://diyaudio.com/forums/showthrea...044#post310044

So this morning I retired it, and made it into a Aleph instead

Here's an inside look:

Well done MadK ! Are you planning to try the Aleph CS too ?...or the fixed CS is your preference?

Default Input question

Why do all the Aleph circuits use a 10K paralleled with a 100K to ground on the + input? Seems like a simple 9.1K would do the same, and be simplier.
BTW, nice work.

Mads,

sorry to see that the heat-mizer got the best of your X-SOZ.

You're just going to have to find some heatsinks worthy of the
X-SOZ's 3% effeciency!

keep looking... everyone needs 5 or 6 amps sitting aroun the house!

I've build std Aleph before; this time it is a stripped down version without active CS and protection etc. I can't say I feel the need to go with ACS sofar. 15W is enough power in my setup anyways

I have hundreds of 10K and 100K in my drawer but not one 9K1... I guess the same goes for Nelson

You're right on target as always moe! I'm going to make another SOZ someday; Probably go with actice CS to get the efficiency up. I believe Nelson has some interesting things up his sleeve that'll suit me just fine
