I was hoping someone might already have ideas on specific makes and models that would work.
I enjoyed the coverage of this great event which relayed a broad range of interesting and inspiring information. I was also glad to actually see the participants in action instead of just their static photos; a definite treat. Many thanks and appreciation to Mr. Rothacher, the presenters, attendees, and all behind the scenes who made this event a reality.

The venue was fantastic, much better than I ever would have expected, the sound was pretty darn good in the small rooms, there was a bunch of stuff new to the show, and lunch was great!
But best of all, I got to hang out with BA friends, as well as meet new friends and put faces together with people whom I've only known as forum names. Great fun!

extruded aluminum is very expensive. for 180w/ch, consider the pic in Nelson's PLH article.. just bigger. Industrial, sure.. but that's an industrial need! And it can be locally sourced and scalable. example.. 14x12 3/8" plate bolted to 48" of 2x4 by .25 wall rectangular tube is about 20 lbs. Probably about $75 locally retailed, at least where I am. What its exact capacity is I dunno, but certainly well above 120w. Wouldn't hurt to make it even bigger. And as Mick Jagger is wont to sing.. Paint it Black.

If I decide to build this amp I will definitely use some quite cooling fans. Why not make the amp a reasonable size using fans?
In addition to forced air cooling with fans, I am toying with building the amp into a 24"-28" tall vertical metal structure that doubles as a speaker stand. There would be plenty of metal surface to dissipate the 100 or so Watts, and my "bookshelf-size" speakers need the height anyway. Kinda like a modern field coil. Has this been DIY'ed before and was it successful?
