Smile CLC or CLCLC ?

My first Thread here !
I have Built an F4 and it works fine, but I would like to try CLC instead of CRC in the powersupply. I have some big toroidinductors with dual windings
( 2x15mH or in series 1x60mH at least 5A current )
What would give best result ?
My plan was to put the inductors instead of the seriesresistors in the powersupply.
CLCLC (10000uF+15mH+10000uF+15mH+10000uF ) or
CLC ( 10000uF+60mH+10000uF )
I have more Caps (10000uF/35V) if needed.
Do anyone have any idea or experience ?
/Tord

if toroid is in case , then you can use them only as common mode choke - one winding in positive , second in negative leg

that way core will not saturate

How do you mean ? If inductors have no airgap or ?

are they having airgap ?

if no ( most probably) then they must be used as I wrote

if yes , use them in whatever fashion you want

I Think they have air gap ?
How do I check that ?
If so, is there any benefits to try CLCLC instead of CLC ?

Read the datasheet. Google will help.

CLCLC will give you higher order (steeper) filtering but with higher frequency
due to the lower inductance (15mH), while CLC due to 60 mH will cut at much
lower frequency, but 3rd order only.
CLCLC might suffer from instability issues in some cases. Do a simulation with
PSU-Designer 2 !!!

Toroids with an air gap would be quite difficult to manufacture.
Some company probably does it.

C core often have an air gap.
EI can be assembled to have an air gap.

best bet , and easiest , use them as common mode choke

use what you have , in greatest amount you have and be done

overkill is , anyway, name of DIY game

in a meantime , go to Duncanamp's , download PSUD

read help (F1) before going serious

Ok. Thanks !
I will look in to some serious psu design, or just go with CLC design.

those two aren't mutually exclusive
