BA-3 As Preamp

Is it possible to use the BA-3 front-end as a pre-amp? I think I read it can, but can't find the reference.

Has anyone used it as pre-amp and do you have any impressions on the sound? I'm currently using a BOZ-J and would like a bit more drive for a bi-amp setup running the L'amp CCS and a F5.

Thanks,

Vince

Here is a link to someone who built one as a preamp > http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pass-labs/196857-between-f4-f5-3.html The details are vague at best !

Thanks,

Vince

It was the intention of the people starting with the Burning Amp series that the Burning Anp should be used in a modular way means mixing allowed of frontends and outputstages, wasn't it Mark himself mentioning this...

I look for the sources...:)

I found it....

I keep seeing mention of the BA-3 as a balanced pre, but the schematic under the board us single-ended.

all you need is there : http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pass-...ml#post2739404

along with explanation for "simple" (SE) BA3 FE : http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/diyau...er-ba-3-a.html

scroll down the page , read my longish comment , where I ( as usually  ) made all work ( no money , no glory :devily: ) , correcting differences between sch. nomenclature and Pa's explanation

I suppose you would want to have seperate attenuators for each channel/amp

juma have shown a jboz like input with B1 like output
might work for biamping

or maybe consider active xo

I'm using a 2-way active crossover (MOX II).

I find the JBOZ a bit light. I really like it, but it needs a bit more push.
Sounds to me that the BA-3 pre has that extra push.

I also have a B1 in the house. It's connected to another system.

ZM, on first look, it seem there is'n't much changed between the two halves.
Should be easy to do.
