I could just built the speaker protector and be done with it. I'm trying to gauge the risk, assuming the B1 and F5 are well built with quality components. It is something that WILL happen eventually?

Statistically there is no hard dcb1 failures pattern reported here yet. Bcs its some yrs now its safe to say that the overall design and parts spec are field reliable. Electrolytics have a finite life and I have given you rule of thumb on how to calculate their life expectancy in your thread. In hi hot-rod mostly a MOSFET or diode, led, bjt, fet, failure can suddenly happen in the course of time if the thermals are not proper. But semis don't come with a guarantee in general. Some guy could kill something with static or forget something after tampering with new parts for instance and then go power up before doing all the first time checks again, whatever. Source equipment can develop some failure and feed DC or unknown ones could be hooked up. Having a full DC path without detect and disengage circuitry at the power end at least is taking chances. Can't recommend such an approach as bullet proof. Use proven quality speaker delay/protection with DC detection feature.

Looks spot on, think i will build with the Mesmerize however..

Any DC that comes about from a failure in a source, or in the Mez, or in the F5 will be capable of frying the direct coupled drivers in your speakers.
Capacitor coupled drivers should survive.
Has anyone added protection caps on the input and output ? Im building this for a friend i Dont want it to blow up on him just because he might plug in some source that has DC in it.
Is there a Solution ? for the DCB1 or B1

Are there PCBs available for the B1?

Cool.

Listening to the Talking Heads Stop Making Sense LP that I bought in the early 80s. I'm once again hearing new detail in a familiar recording

It looks like an interesting solution and offers soft start too. Try tripping it with a battery for a test after you had finished it.
