The Mesmerize would make the basis for a remote controlled pre-amp.
The relays for selection and muting just need open collector outputs from the mux.
The volume control can be any motorised pot for directly control volume or to send control voltage to an LED/LDR vol pot.

I used simplest but dc operated relay based source selector from flebay. My intension was to keep only audio signal and DC PS within box and keep away all clock genrating circuits etc out of enclosure.

Andrew's idea is good but as I explained, I would like to keep digital boards out.
