Hello everyone,
Trying to decide which caps to use for the 220uF ones in the Aleph4. Can anyone recommend a readily available component? I can find some made by Nichicon, but am not sure about the sonic differences among capacitors. Also, I noticed the DC blocking capacitor in the feedback loop. (used to decrease DC offset) In the Aleph4 schematic it shows the positve terminal going to ground through a 10K resistor. Is this correct? Is the AC signal present here OK on a polarized cap? Or is the cap a bipolar part?? It seems to me that the cap will see a negative voltage (due to the AC waveform) across it. Peace Jake

The high frequency Panasonics from Digikey work
fine. |

The capacitor is like a "dead short" at audio frequency signals. It will not see a reverse bias because it has effectively zero AC across it. It is connected as it is because the DC voltage present at the (-) side is less than ground potential - that makes ground "more positive".... and hence the + going to ground.
Hope this helps, Quote:

Hi,
I´m currently finishing my Aleph5 (at last) and I´m not shure about the minimum voltage for C9. I would like to use 25V rated Panasonics for all the 220mu positions and I´m using a 32-33volt supply. Looking at the voltages I think there should be about 12-13volts over C9. Is this right or am I overlooking something? william |
