Amp Camp Amp - ACA

25W of audio power?

Hallo 2 picoDumbs.

Cuong.vn- nice done self designt PCB. Taste out the 2,2k resistor- that works.

What you wrote gives me more understanding that you are more Expert.

If i use my daily Speaker 87dB- sensitivity, i feel that 5W is more that i needed to listen in normal level.
Also i am on rework my oldest classic 3 way 50l vented cabinet speaker with
Audax chassis 89dB sensitivity.

Yes i like tube like sound.
My Favorit is a Tetrode 6P3S(-E) SE with EF86 input in SE with very clever
biasing from German Engineer. But have little hum problem, so i have to find
out the trick with higher the heating Voltage with respect to Katode- that's a
other Chapter.

So in these direction i am searching sound feeling. For that reason Hughs Amp is in first Places in Heart.

Yesterday i setup the 2,2k resistor tuned ACA modules.
After 1 hour burning and biasing all is sable in voltages and also thermally with Fischer SK53- 0,65K/W not to hot, safety touchable.

That morning i hooked it up for listening test with 10k pot on input, it runs present here on TV.
After warming up all tonality is nice delicate fluide and clear presented.
My Skepsis was about using green NP Nichicon with MKT1837, but works
surprisingly good.
In TV Talk show i could realize that clapping Hands- offen difficult- are accurate in noise and also to locate on place, easy 3D imaging.
Very nice clear overall sounding, with dynamic, i like it.:D

Is it possible to get eagle files, or PDF files

Hallo to cuong.vn and tunasto.

I must be a bit tired on eyes, that i havn't seeing that are original boards
from diyAudio store.
tunasto, for sure you could order the 1b, it's not a fault , version and add R15 or not :mad:- read from Pass manual or here.

happy soldering and listening too :note::note:
regards Bangla.

I've wanted to order from Diy Store, it was out of stock for a months.
Didn't know it is in stock now, so i asked cuong.vn to share his pdf file so i can try to make one.

Also, if we are talking about 1b version wouldn't be better to create new version which will solve two things, firs 2k2 mod, and also to put multitrim pot.

regards

Listen to ACA for a week or 2 and share your feelings.
ACA will perform best on full range drivers with efficiency of 90dB or higher. Still very satisfying within its power limitations on regular speakers though.

Maybe you prefer the added damping factor and higher current capability of Hugh's amp with you speakers.

If you enjoy building new amp circuits, I can certainly throw something together that should put a smile on your face.

Hi tunasto.

If i look parallel in moment in store, i put one in basket- there must be available.
You should quick look.
If you order 4 pieces you can build one with 2,2k mod- sounds really very nice
after some hours in use.
The second you can build in Zen Mod half resistance, by double 0,47R and 0,68R- i am on the way to do so.

happy soldering Bangla.:note:

Hallo 2picodumbs.

Nice, very nice.
That i esteem high.
For that reason, if it is stuff not to share here or anyway, it wood gladdening me if you would send your inspiration to me via private announcement.

The ACA 1 impressed me in first use, like "singing" with the little Fostex Horns.
That one should be a gift for my niece, she has a variant Spiralhorn (closed DIY
Japanese side) with same FE126.
The Youth should learn to listen with ears right tonality, my opinion.

So, for now, back to listening or work or anything.

Regards Bangla. :D:D:snail:

I'm working on a project where I'm considering mounting the ACA's vertically on a speaker stand. I'm going to employ some isolation techniques to minimize vibrations from the speaker to the amp...but still am concerned. Do you think this would be a problem?

Also, would mounting vertically effect the thermal dissapation? Should I consider relocating the board on the heat sink. I think there's room to rotate it 90 degrees and place on the bottom third of the sink. But I'm not sure it matters.

pimped ACA

Hallo ACA Friends.

I have now testrunning the R15-2,2k pimped Variant.
The first SMPS 19V 4,74A- one of them works with failure: whistling and send it to Speaker.
So i ordered new ones 20V 4,5A and set up the bias point to 10,5V on measuring point.
I tested it long day period now and detected that my heat sinks are a bit tiny
to dissipate.
Also the 3W resistors goes very hot there.
Could i lower R15 to 1k?
I am not so lucky with my capacitor choose actually, missed a bit staging, separation.
In contact with Rudi, his active ACA Loudspeaker project- he doesn't mod R15,
only goes higher in voltage- 24VDC.
That i have done on my Mini Aleph Project and find that works.

And Yes the ACA Boards available i also say weeks back now.
And thanks great quick store service my BA-3FE boards very fast received
here. Yes!

See my Test Build.

:cheers::cheers: Bangla

There is a picture from the Amp Camp of a father with his daughter, who was stuffing a cap on the board..... she cant have been more than 5.

Get em going now, your children nor you will regret it.

Yes, they are interested in what I'm doing. I have them cut wires. They like to test things with a multimeter. I've had my oldest (Perry) drill holes in a chassis. They are interested in what the components are (resistors, capacitors, etc.). But I don't think they're quite ready to solder or follow complete instructions (they're just learning to read). I have held Perry's hand as we soldered a joint, but he's not steady enough to do it himself. But it would be nice to have the kits availible for them when they are ready.

When they were babies I would read basic electricity books to them. It was fun for me and maybe something stuck with them. Who knows.
