RELAY SWITCH VOLUME CONTROL - HELP NEEDED !

Hi to all of you.
I want to change the alps 100k volume pot that my preamp has. I'm sick with the channel balance difference that most of the pots have especially with low volume positions. Whenever i measure a pot there is always a difference with resistance values between left & right channel . (even with expensive ones).

So i was thinking about a relay switch board & i have 2 things in mind from ebay :

a) http://www.ebay.ie/itm/220957365484?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

b) http://www.ebay.ie/itm/190649692859?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1149wt_952

Off course any other proposal will be very much appreciated.

hm,

the best solution in my system are the TKD pots concerning the sound.....

especially this one with small resistors that are switched like in stepped attenuators

Acoustic-Dimension, high-end audio and components for tube audio

TKD 2P-2511S Stereo volume control with stepped action (20 steps)

or

TKD 2P-2511 Stepped attenuator.

http://www.acoustic-dimension.com/tkd/2P2511.pdf

I liked this pot more than any relays or stepped attenuator ( I have an hificollective takman Seidenswitch)

So there are also only 22 steps with these kind of TKD pots and that could mean, that you really have to get your gain down either in the pre or in the amp.

Another possibility I will try next days

a volume control with Maxim DS1808

no software only push buttons only unbalanced, Nelson uses it in XP10 so the sound must be good...

a cheaper try than the TKD pot and many steps....

only disadvantage it works only up to 2V input sources and at the output you need a very high impedance, best 1 Mohm..

no time any more at the moment, but we can continue...:spin:
