Yes I know, but I don't know how easily semisouth can make p channel jfets equivalent to the quality of their N channel Jfets

Both I suppose.
Since Toshiba no longer make either small signal jfet or power mosfet then I suppose Nelson will want to use Semisouth. I noticed Nelson is now using Toshiba power mosfets on his latest amps. |

Xs-es ? I'm not so sure , if you mean on Toshibas in output stage as I understand it , Toshiba Jfets and Toshiba mosfets are situated in FE

Xs-es
Nelson now uses Toshiba. Not sure what assumptions to make. Initial assumption is that they are used on output. I am quite sure Nelson is using source follower on output. So I suppose it could also mean FE if he just means voltage gain. "We continued to use cascoded NOS (New Old Stock) Toshiba Jfets that still set the standard for input devices, but for the heavy voltage lifting we switched to better Toshiba Mosfets (NOS, also discontinued)."
