What can I use instead of k170/j74?

I only have K170 on offer for now, no J74.
2SK246 and 2SJ103 are EOLed, in fact all Toshiba JFET were EOL last year except for a few SMT N-channel ones.

What the hell is going on with Toshiba.
They don't seem to be interested in Audio anymore at least from the point of view of manufacturing mosfets and jfets.
Luckily I have a tonne of 2sk170/2sj74.
And for output I have a tonne of IRFP240/9240, and a tonne of lateral mosfets.
Would have been nice to try out the toshiba devices though.

Just not enough commercial interest in discretes these days. Commercial manufacturing is all about integration and IC packaging.....
our hobby musings bears no relevance in that market.... sigh....

Since Toshiba no longer make either small signal jfet or power mosfet then I suppose Nelson will want to use Semisouth.

as I understand it , Toshiba Jfets and Toshiba mosfets are situated in FE

Nelson now uses Toshiba.
Not sure what assumptions to make.
Initial assumption is that they are used on output. I am quite sure Nelson is using source follower on output. So I suppose it could also mean FE if he just means voltage gain.
