Am about ready to order my fets and found this on Fairchild's site...

http://www.fairchildsemi.com/pf/IR/IRFP244B.html

Would these be better or worse than standard IRFP244's? Anyone know what the difference is in the "B" model?

Also, does anyone know of a reasonable source for IRF244's in TO3 cases? The vendors that I've tried all want ~$7.50 each for these. I'm figuring that I'll have to buy ~300 to end up with 4 sets of 16 and 4 sets of 12 that are matched...

I really wanted to use the TO3 style devices because the "scrap" metal that I have is already drilled for them but the pricing is just brutal!!!

Any chance Pass Labs would consider selling 112 devices that are matched? :santa2:

Help!

Thanks

IRFP244 is in TO247AC packaqe - IRFP244B is in TO3P.

Difference in absolute maximum ratings is minimal and IMHO of no importance.

I heard that IR now belongs to Fairchild. Maybe IRFP244B is manufactured by IR under the Fairchild logo in just a different package.

Hi Brian,

there are some different versions of TO3P(+suffix) on the
market but the above dimension data is true for IRFP250
by IR and IRF250B by Fairchild.

You can consider them to be nearly identical except the
mounting hole which is isolated from drain at TO247!
