2 general questions, one specific one.
Is there any reason not to use capacitors which are rated way over the req'd voltage? In conditions where a reduced cutoff frequency is not important (noise filtering, decoupling) is it a problem to use a higher capacitance than needed? specificly, with refrence to the project at hand, is there any reason not to use 200v 220uf caps that I have on hand, in place of the 63v 100uf caps which are called for? As far as I can tell, it shouldn't really matter, but I'm a newbie compared to a lot of you guys, and I'd rather check than blow stuff up. |

No, it is better to use higher voltage rated cap's. "is there any reason not to use 200v 220uf caps that I have on hand, in place of the 63v 100uf caps which are called for?" No, I used a 100V 100uF, it worked fine. 220uF shouldn't be a problem, if you have more of them - put them in series, that way you split capacitance, but resistance is bigger. Try anyway - Pass put all those parts because he had them on shelves - he said that a couple of times, it's not that crucial. |
