Default Tech-DIY parts

Whats the difference between the regular F5 kit they sold until recently and the so called R1 edition? Can I use the latter with the cviller boards?

If in doubt, why not build the original?

I plan to, but I'd rather buy kitted parts than source every bit

Tech DIY has a great reputation. I have not tried them though.

It's a guess, but it looks like the circuit has been changed a bit to accommodate the GR grade of JFETs TechDIY seems to be selling. I don't know the implications if any of using the GR grade instead of the matched BL that most folks use.

If you're worried about it, PM, I have lots of Toshiba BL JFETs and I'd be happy to help.

sorry , a shame that those knowing can't be bothered these days . answer is yes . i believe the only difference is the inclusion of P3 , a trim pot which unless i'm mistaken there's no place for on the cvillar board anyway and is useless anyway unless you have a distortion analyzer .

jack's link to the differences is broken , also his gr grade fets probably won't bias without tweaking resistors . take nycone up on his offer for bl grade .

cheers Woody

Just for reference, I have bought and used the Tech-DIY F5 kit without any problems, all mounted on Cvilliers boards. I did have an issue with another kit from them, and they sent me the correct parts free of charge after one email and same day postage I was back in action.
