Last two items for BOM. The pic shows availability as I can find today. Is this combination acceptable, or do I need to stay within a specific column for proper match/operation?

I used fairchild parts seem to work fine. Needed to adjust some resistor values to make them work.
p1 and p2 became 1k instead of 500r

I'm willing to make whatever adjustments are needed, but will that combination provide at least basic/non optimal operation as a starting point?

To me the parts seem fine but someone more knowledgeable can probably say more.

If that's what is available decision seems made.....

Is there a published build and/or initial start-up/test/adjustment procedure for the BA-3 front end somewhere on the forum? I haven't located one yet. Would be good to confirm proper operation before I hook it up to something else.
