Hiya folks.
Just a few questions si vous plait... I own a pair of the Bride of Son of Zen PCBs and the matching power supply boards available from http://www.audioxpress.com/bksprods/pcbs/zen.htm Once I found out about PCB-Design at http://web.vip.hr/pcb-design.vip/ I was immediately interested in the boards there as well. However, I was wondering if there was any difference between the BOSOZ boards available at the two sites? Does anyone have any experience with both kinds? Are they the same construction/layout/quality? I noticed that the prices are different, with the PCB-Design boards being nearly twice as expensive (although the price includes shipping and handling, so it isn't as much as it sounds). Does anyone have any experiences they might share about these boards? Thanks, -Erik.

The Zen designs are too simple to just buy a kit and build one. I think you are pretty much obligated to experiment with a variant design of your own

Yeah, I know.
But judging from my past ptp wiring, I'd better stick with the pcb's as a leaping off point for starters. I can still 'X' the things using the boards. Once I've got my sea legs under me, I'll get experimental. I've already got ideaz (with a 'z' to emphasize how cool they're gonna be) -Erik. original designs to follow...

it's not hard to etch your own boards based on the provided line
art from the articles. i use Press-n-Peel http://www.techniks.com/ i don't think there is much difference between Kristijan's boards and the one's you have. One difference is the Kristijan uses separate diodes for the rectifiers on the PSU board. The original design uses diode bridges. ...small differences. |

What are the differences between diodes and bridges- what diodes you should use?

Look at the bottom of the page here:
http://www.vacuumtube.com/Products.h...overy%20Diodes Has anyone used these and do they indeed work better than Schottky's? I bought a bunch of the higher current ones for building a full wave bridge rectifier. I guess I should get some Schottky's and build a bridge from them too to do some A/B. -Erik.

FYI, the circuit sounds great built exactly as the article describes.
Guild the lilly later with exotic parts, etc. Or spend extra money on the Pots! m. |
