Is the F4 the most-suitable FW amp for me?

The suitability of the F4 revolves around a few things,
first and foremost, does the source have enough gain and
voltage swing. The source needs to have +/-20V peak
(single ended drive) to take full advantage, and twice that
in balanced operation.

As to the gain, that depends a lot on other things as well -
how sensitive the is speaker, how loud do you play it and
what is the output level of your cd player etc.

Once you get past that, you have a nice amplifier with
reasonably low distortion (especially for no feedback),
wide bandwidth, and a modest damping factor.

g,day all
i have a stereo pair of f4 that i,ve just finnished and am looking for a suitable pre and all this talk about driving f4 with f5 has got me keen to try it as i have also got a diy f5

can i convert the f5 into a pre to drive the 2x f4 ,and what would be involved aside from the obvious which is adding a volume control to the f5

can a single stereo f5 drive 2x stereo f4 in balanced mode ?

thanks in advance and sorry for thread jacking ,i just thought that seeing as it was mentioned here i would ask

regards sheafer
