As they are very simple to make because of the few components and because I have no clue about Pass Labs and want to learn I wanted to have a go at an F5 amp following Nelson's design:
![]() So what do I use for Q1,Q2,Q3 and Q4? I realise Q3 and Q4 are the output devices, I want to achieve about 50W/ch is this possible and what input voltage would be recommended? Thanks Boscoe

You perhaps should turn another two pages from that F5 manual, then you'll see the bright light

Hmm just read through the manual, certainly explains why the rather large heatsinks used in the builds in this thread! For a 24W amp 60W dissipated!!!

While you're at it, also read all the zen variations from passdiy.com
The answers to most of the questions you will have can be found in one or the other zen articles. In fact, the whole zen compilation is a great resource for beginner amp building.... another one of those genius things that Papa has created. |

I think I won't know. Looking at the F5 stats apart from inefficiency which can be dealt with why build any other amp? There's power great quality so simple has a massive frequency range with very low levels of THD!!
